View of Moorea as we sail from Tahiti to Bora Bora
 Arriving at Bora Bora
Larabeck moored at Bora Bora Yacht Club (boat is on the left)
Sunset seen frome Bora Bora Yacht Club
Passengers arrive at Vaitape Wharf from the Bora Bora Airport (shuttle is the large
boat on the far right)
Shuttle boat from the wharf to the Four Seasons Resort, which is on a motu on the
northeast side of Bora Bora.
Viatape church with Mount Pahia in the background.
Michael, taking a break on a Vaitape dock over clear blue water.
View of Bora Bora Yacht Club from north shore of Faanui Bay.
View of Mount Pahia and Mt Otemanu from shore of Bora Bora
Sharon and the little car we rented.
Matira Beach with kite surfers in the background (off Matira Point).
Matira Beach--note the building on the far left with the sign "SNACK" hanging on it
This is the "Snack" building seen in previous picture, where we stopped and had a beer after a long walk in the sand.
Sailboat anchorage at Matira Beach (west of the previous pictures).   We did not anchor here since we had the chance to explore by car.  Entry into this anchorage is a little tricky because of the coral heads.  One must travel midday when the light is good, making the coral visible.
Cruise Ship Paul Gauguin, which anchored right in front of Vaitape.  We had seen the boat earlier in Tahiti.

This is a different cruise ship, which  stopped at Vaitape Bora Bora the morning we left.  Notice the sailboat at the waterline of the monster ship .  The sailboat is about the size of Larabeck, and is heading out to sea, just in front of us.
Bloody Mary's Restaurant as seen in the evening from our mooring site.  Mooring is free if you patronize the restaurant.
Cheers!  The food at Bloody Mary's was delicious!
Boardwalk from the mooring field to the restaurant Bloody Mary's by daylight with
Mt. Pahia and Mt. Otemanu in sight.
View from our anchorage at Motu Toopua
Michael impresses the neighbors with flying dive tricks.
The neighbor on s/v Mooneshine climbed the mast for a better view.
Captain Chris on the lookout.
Now he dives...
and safely lands.
A sting ray glides by as we explore a small island shore
This is where we followed the sting ray. L to R Ashley from Mooneshine, Sharon from Larabeck, and Cpt. Chris, Mooneshine.

Sailing Yacht Imagine was our neighbor at a few Bora Bora anchorages. The boat is
over a 100 feet long...
...and taller than the island!
View from our anchorage on the east side of the island, Motu Tofari.
East side Motus and small channel to ocean.
This shot is from across the lagoon--we watched the catamarn navigate the channel through the coral leading to the southeast side. We stuck to the sandy route near the Motu Tofari.
A closer view of the channel between motus with a great view of the Taha'a, the nearest Society Island.
Larabeck anchored on east side, near St. Regis Resort.

Leaving Bora Bora through the Passe Teavnui. The water splashing on the coral reef is impressive.
As we sail from Bora Bora (seen here) we pass a catamaran headed in the opposite direction.
Approaching Raiatea; the sail from Bora Bora took about 4.5 hours.
Chantier Naval des Iles on left and Raiatea Carenage on right.  Some cruisers store
their boats here for the rainy season.  There are also many local boats in the yard.
Sailing Yacht Friendship was on the hard when we arrived, but now back on the water.   We met them originally in Panama.
Capt. Tim of Friendship (he's also a great guitar player!)
Larabeck is hauled slowly out of the water.  Michael watches keenly from above as two swimmers from the yard line up the trailer beneath the boat.  One of the swimmers can be seen here in the water beneath Michael and slighty to the right.
Larabeck gets a new coat of antifouling paint.
Two of the many kids who played in the ship yard.  They asked to be photographed so they could see the picture on the camera.
The workers put the wheels back on the trailer and hitch it up to their Massey-Ferguson tractor.
Larabeck sails on dry land!
Michael and Larabeck are launched.  What a relief to be back in the water.
Music at the Taravana Yacht Club on Taha'a, neighbor island to Raitaea.  We went there to finish the survey--the surveyor lives next door to the yacht club.  We were lucky enough to be there on a Tuesday, when a buffet dinner with local music and dance is featured.
Dancing after dinner at Taravana.  The audience participated in many of the dances, including us.
